Sweet Story 1
A woman called me about a commission. She knew my work through her parents and she wanted a sanderlings painting. She told me she was preparing to have IVF treatment and wanted something positive and peaceful to look at. I completed the commission and mailed it to her. I didn’t hear any follow-up until one day at The Fringe Fine Art Gallery her parents paid a visit. Their daughter underwent multiple unsuccessful IVF treatments. She and her husband decided to not pursue further treatment, and yet months later they conceived. Her parents proudly shared photos of their beautiful grandson with me and I couldn’t have been happier for them all. Is it possible a painting can make a tiny difference?
My first post about my art.
I look forward to telling you some funny stories about the “behind the scenes” world of my art.

Children Art Class
2. June 15. Optical illusions. 10-noon. Ages 9+. $75.00
Children will create two toys invented in the early 1800’s. These toys were the
precursor to all subsequent moving images inventions. One is called a
phenakistoscope and the other is thaumatrope. Anyone familiar with flip books
will understand the underling concept of sequential images creating the
illusion of movement. The magic happens because of persistent vision, the
the brain and eye’s ability to hold onto an image for a fraction of a second after
the image disappears.
3. June 22. Kinetic Toys. Ages 8+. $60.00
Using recycled materials, children will make two two that are powered by wind
and motion. One will be a balloon-powered racecar and the second one a
merry-go-round power my spinning.
